Introduction to Adobe Photoshop

Tue 18 and Wed 19 Sept, 2 day course, 10.30-5.30pm, £140 (£120)

An intensive beginners course teaching Photoshop skills and concepts, giving you the confidence in using this powerful image manipulation software. The course will show you how to work with layers, and resize images for printing and website use. There will be time allocated for questions and individuals needs will be catered for where possible.

Introduction to Web Design: Website Creation for Beginners

Tue 25 - Thu 27 Sept, 3 day course, 10.30am-5.30pm, £200 (£180)

Using Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop, this three day course will cover the basic construction and upload of a website. Students will learn the foundations of web design and will gain the confidence to create their own site. Students should bring content (text and images) that they wish to transform onto the web. Ideal for students, small businesses and self-employed. Some computer literacy is desirable and homework is recommended.

The Devon based Twitter expert shares the secrets of Twitter.

This two hour, intensive workshop will help you to use Twitter more effectivley and teach you useful tips and skills to understand this powerful social media tool.

All participants are invited to grab a drink from the cafebar and join the tutor, @ShineyShoeClaire from 5pm for a pre-workshop mingle.

Adobe InDesign - Introduction

For new users of InDesign or those who want a refreshers. Learn how to design for print, become familiar with the programme’s tools and the most important menu commands. You will also be given a solid introduction to the basics of good design.

Introduction to Digital Photography for Beginners

Wed 24 Oct, 1 day course, 10.30-5.30pm, £70 (£60)

Whether you have a digital camera or not, come and discover for yourself the possibilities offered by this exciting medium.

We will show you how to take digital photographs, download them to the computer and use Adobe Photoshop to enhance, manipulate and print out superb results.

For those with a digital SLR (or compact camera) who would like to improve their photography skills under the guidance of a professional freelance photographer.

Gain confidence using your camera so you can get on with the most rewarding part, which is learning to capture the moments and compose interesting images and learn to no longer rely on your cameras 'auto' settings.

Introduction to Video Editing in Final Cut Pro

An intensive course that will introduce you to the scope of HDV (Desktop Video) editing.

This course covers the fundamentals of digital editing, media managment and you will be shown the rudiments of the programme as well as how to import and export your video. Some computer literacy is desirable.

Improvers Digital Photography

For photographers who have grasped the basics of thier digital camera but want to imrpove the quality of thier photographs and take more time to take control of the camera.
Students will explore and develop thier skills and understanding of photography and will have the confidence to tak professional style photographs by the end of the session.

In a build up to Two Short Nights Film Festival Exeter Phoenix Digital is offering a month of essential one-day workshops focusing on three fundamental skills to inspire great filmmaking.

SPEECH, MUSIC AND SOUND IN CINEMA

Fri 9 Nov, 10.30-5.30pm, £70 (£60)

Through film clips, transcription and analysis learn how filmmakers such as Hitchcock, Tarantino, and Kubrick use sound semiotic techniques (‘what sound can say’). This course is aimed at filmmakers; composers and sound designers as well as anyone else who may wish to improve their understanding and analysis of soundtracks for the benefit of their own filmmaking and soundtrack creation. Taught by Film composer and producer, Gilbert Gabriel.
