TWO MALE ACTORS REQUIRED FOR SHORT FILM SHOOTING IN DARTMOOR AREA IN AUGUST/SEPTEMBER

SYNOPSIS:A short western set on the plains of Dartmoor. Death is creeping up on the old man. He can feel it, he sees it in his dreams. And though his son Webb denies it, he can feel it too. 'Rider' deals with both mens struggles to accept what's coming.

The two roles:

WEBB: Caucasian, Acting age 35-45 (I can bend this a bit for the right actor, but must look at least 30) Webb is a Dartmoor Shepherd who lives a simple life alone with his father in an isolated cottage. He's a strong and silent type, but does his best to care for his aging father.

As the lead actor you will be required on anything up to seven different shooting days. These will however be spread out over the next couple of months and organised around you (and the weather). Previous film experience not essential, but the ability to give a more subtle, low-key performance than is usually expected on stage is, particularly as the film has very little dialogue.

OLD MAN: Caucasian, Acting age 70+

Wheelchair bound and blinded by cataracts, but still sharp as a button. The old man can feel death creeping up on him, but this stubborn old git won't go down without a fight.

You will be required on 3 different shoots. One evening, one full day, and one half day. Dates to be confirmed and organised to suit you. Previous film experience not essential, but the ability to give a more subtle, low-key performance than is usually expected on stage is.

As this is a self-funded low budget film i'm afraid both roles are unpaid. I will however try to contribute to any travel costs required and provide food on set for long shooting days. I can also guarantee that the film will be shot to a very high standard, so with the help of some strong acting you could be part of something special.

CONTACT: Please contact me in the first instance by emailing jedhart@hotmail.co.uk. I can then send you the story, script, clips of my previous work and other materials and we can discuss an audition from there.

Mortgage
Call for Location

We're looking for an isolated cottage or farmhouse. Somewhere that Tom Grady a wanted ex-IRA terrorist has been living and hiding in for the past ten years, living off the land. The film Mortgage focuses on his discovery by a journalist who goes out to interview him and who realises that the success of his story and Tom's fate all depend on him publishing the hiding man's location.

The requirement for the location are that the interiors are neither too modern nor too immaculately tidy. Exterior should sugges a remoteness. Delapidation is not a problem. If the interior is right but not the exterior or vice versa, that is okay. We may well shoot interiors and exteriors separately.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. We are a very considerate unit and we are fully insured.

Many thanks
David

Outside the Box - ACTORS NEEDED!

Exeter Phoenix Short Film Commissions 2010

Volunteer actors and actresses are needed for one of the Phoenix Digital’s Bursary Films being filmed this summer.

My name is David Williams and I have written and will be directing the film ‘Outside the Box’ this summer through the Phoenix Digital’s bursary scheme, and I am in need of some budding actors/actresses to star in the project.

There are four key rolls needed to be filled as listed below, as well as some minor cameo rolls.

Male / 25-30 yrs. / Caucasian. The lead role, 25-35 year old 'anti-hero', a likable funny character slightly lacking in self confidence, clean cut, loyal and honest. Relationship with the best friend character is very important, a duo that have worked together before would be ideal to help convey the life long friendship.

Male / 25-30 yrs. / Caucasian. Best Friend character, second most important role in the film, 25-35 year old, a self centered person who thinks he's funny, who takes life and all that it offers for granted. Not a bad person but doesn't consider others unless they can service him in a mutual manner or if life forces him to. Relationship with the lead character is very important, a duo that have worked together before would be ideal to help convey the life long friendship.

Female / 60 yrs + / Caucasian. This role is of a frail old woman, quiet friendly, has some lines where she will need to seem partially senile .

If you feel you would suit any of these rolls please contact me via williamsandoxley@googlemail.com with your cv or apply through mandy.com by following this link - http://www.mandy.com/1/cast3.cfm?v=38213257

Below is a brief synopsis of the film for your interest:-

What would you do if, driving home one stormy night in your two seater sports car, you happened upon a bus stop in which, hiding from the storm, was the girl of your dreams, your best friend who once saved your life, and an old woman who looks like she’s about to shuffle off this mortal coil. Who would you choose to release from this most inhospitable situation via a lift in your sporty little number? This is the rather serious dilemma that confronts our hero. Little known to him, he’s being very closely judged on his response to this tricky moral dilemma, and little known to us, these entire events are imagined scenarios that form part of a job interview.

The film is about job interviews and the ever growing trend to use psychological questions and techniques to gage and pigeon-hole interviewees, and how they often rely on text book answers that inevitably fall by the wayside to human nature.

There will be four sections to the film, with each possible solution played out, with the reality of the job interview acting as introduction and conclusion to the film. Each choice plays out to a rapid and unfortunate conclusion, each time with our 'hero' finding himself arriving back at the bus stop to make yet another ill-fated choice. When he returns for a fourth attempt, he realizes another option, wherein he can save the old woman, and still get the girl.

Also sound recordist needed to complete the crew for this project, someone with some experience with syncing etc. needed.
